Z’s first 4th of July in the U.S
Here are some pictures from our very first 4th of July in New York and Z’s first 4th of July ever in the U.S! It was a perfect day spent with so many incredible people. Friends that we have made in the past few months living here in NYC. We started off the day heading to my friend Lauren’s house for a BBQ and had so much fun playing in the pool. Her son is just two weeks older than Z and she’s a cool mom so we all just clicked quickly. After hours of eating and playing in the pool we headed home and thankfully Z slept on the car ride back so he could be ready and fresh for the next BBQ of the day. While he napped I made the most spectacular (ahaha I’m so modest) 4th of July cake. I have been wanting to make this cake forever and I have always been too insecure to bake or try anything “crazy” in the kitchen. Now after a few years of cooking for Z I’m a little more confident. The cake was a hit and everyone at the BBQ loved it so now my head is getting big.
I think my next project is a layered cake. 🙂 ahaha
When Z woke up we went to our friends house in Long Island City where we had a full view of the skyline and the most amazing firework show. Z played with his friends from his school that he made this past year and us adults watched the fireworks in awe as if we were all kids again. I don’t even think the kids cared as much as we did. Z at one point asked me “Mamma is this your first time seeing fireworks?” Since he was a baby we have been in Italy every summer working and this is the first summer we are staying in America a little longer due to work and important meetings here in the city. On Monday we leave for Italy and I honestly cannot wait to be back to work in my factory with my team there, eat piadina and have “aperetivo” on the beach with our Italian friends. Z cannot wait to be back to eat his bis nonna’s tagliatelle. He reminds me every damn day… “Mamma mi raccomando we have to go to Nonna’s as soon as we go to Italy because I want her tagliatelle! Okay mamma? Okay??” Okay Z. Okay.
