Fashion and art go hand in hand almost always. Working in the fashion industry and designing for two brands I look to art to stimulate my creative thinking. While in Amsterdam I couldn’t pass up a few pictures of the street art. It was very similar to Berlin’s street art in the sense that they had something to say about politics, music, and their love for the Western world. Street art back home in L.A. for the most part has always been really scary and ugly. Wherever the graffiti was thats exactly where you did not want to be. It was mostly gang related graffiti, tagging, dirty words and images. Today street art has gone from disturbing to inspiring. Having a store on Melrose I can see that change first hand since Melrose Ave. is one of the very few streets in Los Angeles to promote street art. It seems I’m not the only one with a European influence in L.A. anymore. The world is big friends, go outside your comfort zone and get influenced. 😉 <3 E.
